A Nest of Problems

You know that grey or silver tube that leads the dry hot air out of a dryer... normally to the outside? Well in one of our tenant's apartments, their dryer wasn't working. We made sure that tube was connected and that the dryer itself was plugged in. The dryer would turn on and spin, but it wasn't drying a load of clothes even after 4 cycles. The dryer maintenance person finally came by tonight to take a look at it. He did feel heat coming out of the dryer, so I started to feel dumb that I called him. Then we took a look at that tube thing and it was filled with straw and grass. The closer the look we took the more seemed to come out. In the top of the tube that lead to the outside, there was a nest with 4 robin eggs inside. They were cold (according to a tenant) but I still felt bad that the mother bird would come back and find her nest gone. We had to clear out the whole thing of course, and now hopefully the dryer will work.
