My Musings...

I loved writing stories when I was in junior high. The one I remember getting the furthest on was about a girl who got kidnapped while camping with her family. The bad guy was the dad, the "hero" was his son who didn't even want to be spending time with his dad but had to while his mom was out of the country. He had no choice but to go along with his father's scheme to get ransom money. He ends up finding the truth of the gospel through this girl and a new crush. Of course it was just the musings of a teenage girl who grew up reading LDS romance novels... but my friends liked it and so I kept writing. Why didn't I finish it? Mostly because that summer, Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped and I didn't want my story related to that fiasco. I have gotten the urge to write again and I have a few ideas but I don't know where to start. I think my favorite idea is about a girl and a guy... I know - typical. But I guess the reasons I like it the most is because I can use my experience. It would take place in a college setting. The things I went through and things my friends have gone through. I have always wanted to write something that would fuel the reader's interest, and I don't know if a romance is in the market... then again, I am pretty sure my mother and I have single-handedly kept the LDS romances from Seagull Book and Tape in business. I will just have to make something extraordinary happen in my novel. Putting more fiction in it than real life experiences. But again on the other hand, some people like a true story. Who knows where this adventure may take me. Maybe it will be just another lovesick girl's musings on romance.
