The Classes at BYU Idaho...

Going to school at BYU Idaho can be interesting and fun... yet in different ways than imagined. My first semester up at school I was adopted into a class by just going with my cousin Emily. She liked to sit in on a story-telling class and listen to what people had come up with. I was bored one day she was about to go, and decided to tag along. I ended up taking the class a couple times after that. In that semester I told in a few festivals, one being with Emily and one without. Those stories will be posted in time.
The class I chose to tell about is one I took last year in the fall. This class was about Special Education and in the class we learned a lot about what it took to be a part of that teaching group. Special Ed students have a wide range of special needs. They range from mental disabilities to physical ones. We had to have a few of those disabilities in this class. They included blindness, speech difficulties, and even being confined to a wheelchair. This class gave me a whole lot of new insights into the things that people have to deal with. The looks people gave me or didn't give me, the way I was stared at or ignored, and even the weird girl who followed me around with a camera documenting every single struggle I had to deal with. Who knows what people thought about her as she sat back and watched me almost roll into a street filled with speeding cars. The wheelchair in her words had to be Mormon... it always chose the right. The chair would drift to the right and make me strain even harder to stay in a straight line. In this chair I had to do an odd assortment of things. I needed to get a drink, go to the bathroom, and even go up and down a hill. The elevator was difficult in its own way. I found that the building I was in was not very wheelchair accessible.
The experience was in itself a learning one. I don't think I would ever regret going through this class and participating in the quirks that were required.

I alway thought that would be fun, I would always see those people around. By the way my friends did NOT come over last night, it was just me and movies. It was great!!!
